Research mentee and mentor training—based upon the books Entering Research external link and Entering Mentoring external link – have been tested and shown to be effective in increasing mentee and mentor knowledge and skills, as well as developing their abilities to engage in productive mentor-mentee relationships. In addition, the curricula promote culturally responsive interactions between mentors and mentees, which can help historically underrepresented mentees successfully progress in their research careers to become effective mentors, scientific leaders, and research team members.

Objective

This workshop’s goal is to help participants build their knowledge and skills to revise or develop an evaluation plan for their research mentee training  or their research mentor training implementations.
